Woman Ran Over Cheating Husband, Cops Say
Unfaithful men often fear their wives will find out about their womanizing ways. They fear with good reason. Case in point: Colene Barker. The 35-year-old Arizona woman ran over her cheating husband with her car after an argument.
She first struck her husband's car twice. Then she turned her vehicle toward him. She ran him over, knocking him to the ground. She then drove over both his legs.
Barker wasn't done. She exited the car, and belittled him while he was "rolling in pain" on the floor. When arrested, she told police she wanted to "teach him a lesson" because he was cheating on her.
It appears the couple was already estranged at the time of the incident. Barker's husband had lived with his girlfriend for two years. He was in the process of filing for divorce , reports The Arizona Republic.
Barker's husband was taken to a local hospital after the assault. He was treated for lacerations and bruises. He didn't want to press charges because he said that Barker was a good mother. He also said the incident was his fault.
But the decision to file charges is not up to Barker's husband. It's for the prosecutor to decide. Barker is now facing charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage.
Under Arizona law, individuals who cause serious injury to another can be charged with aggravated assault. The same goes for those who use a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument. In Barker's case, a car would likely qualify under the statute.
Aggravated assault is a felony. Criminal damage may also be a felony depending on the amount of property damage inflicted. Colene Barker may face a hefty sentence if convicted.
