Weekly Recalls: Unscented Propane and IKEA Lamps
You want to light up your life, not end up blind or in a fire, so be careful if you've got IKEA lamps or propane gas, as some of these items were just recalled. Last week IKEA recalled two types of lamps that caused 11 injuries internationally, while 118 million gallons of propane gas were recalled in the US, reports the Associated Press. Let's look at the details.
IKEA Lamps
Who hasn't struggled putting something together from this home furnishing giant, known for its simple design? Well, if you got a ceiling lamp from IKEA, stop and check before you take any steps to put it together. For those of you who managed to follow the instructions and your lamp is functioning, check your model.
IKEA HYBY and LOCK ceiling lamps have been losing the plastic retaining clip, resulting in fallen lamps and shattered glass. There have been 244 incidents worldwide, with 11 injuries reported internationally.
The type number and the model name of the lamps are on a label attached to the electrical lamp housing. The recalled HYBY -- which cost $13 and sold from October 2012 through January 2016 -- is type number T1011 and the recalled LOCK is type number T0201, priced at $5.
Unscented Propane
In other recall news, 118 million gallons of propane gas are being recalled for insufficient odor. The propane does not contain the tell-tale scent that prevents accidents and explosions by alerting people to a gas leak. Crescent Point Energy reported no incidents but the gas is used in portable refillable tanks for RVs, grills, stoves, and more, so beware.
Keep in mind, however, that it might be difficult to determine if this concerns you. The propane was distributed in Arizona, Idaho, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin and Utah, delivered by various companies, and sold by retailers between April 2009 and October 2015.If you have question, contact Crescent Point Energy at 866-421-4266 from 9-5 MT, or info@youandpropane.com.
