Superman Makes Bail: The Superhero's NYC Arrest

Superman's arrest by NYPD's finest last Tuesday night raises a host of curious questions.

    • Why did he stage a one-man protest against Donald Trump
    • Did Lex Luthor play a role in the superhero's tragic fall?
    • Where was Lois Lane?
    • Will the Man of Steel be able to put this legal chapter behind him?

Superman a/k/a Maksim Katsnelson from the Bronx, was arrested in Manhattan's Columbus Circle outside the Trump International Hotel & Tower on Tuesday evening.

Did Superman's archenemy Lex Luthor have a bit-part in the superhero's fall from grace, and the superhero's act of "laying down on the sidewalk...with [his] body extended across said sidewalk?"

The costumed Man of Steel's refusal to comply with the NYPD's request to stop blocking pedestrians and go "Up, Up, and Away!" resulted, according to Superman's lawyer Jacqueline Samuels, in his being pepper-sprayed and being left with one swollen eye.

Superman's misdemeanor criminal complaint lists charges of criminal trespass, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing governmental administration.

Katsnelson spent Tuesday night in a Manhattan jail, followed by his arraignment in criminal court the next day, his parents at his side. Superman's mom posted $1,000 bail.

The superhero's MySpace webpage URL includes the nickname 'Mad Maximillion' in it. In addition to Superman, Katsnelson lists Homer Simpson as another one of his heroes. His MySpace page also lists a few of Katsnelson's superhero-like qualities, acknowledging that he can be "Strong-willed and highly motivated. Sharp thoughts. Easily angered. Attracts others and loves attention. Deep feelings. Firm Standpoint. Needs no motivation. Easily consoled."

Superman's latest scuffle with the NYPD is a reprisal of a legal performance he had last week with officers in New York City's Times Square.  You can watch that historic event below:
