Rudy Giuliani Joins Mega-BigLaw-Firm Greenberg Traurig

Greenberg Traurig, one of the world's largest multinational law firms, just got a little bigger recently. Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani will be joining its ranks as the firm's Global Chair of the firm's Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Practice.

It's nice to know that at least Greenberg Traurig has a department to cybersecurity -- an area in which most law firms fall short.

Rolling Out the Red Carpet

Greenberg Traurig's Executive Chairman, Richard Rosenbaum, was ceremoniously effusive when speaking about Giuliani's becoming part of the team. Despite the relative concreteness of Mr. Giuliani's new title with the law firm, there was much vague corporate-speak as to what exactly the former mayor's role with GT would be.

"The Mayor will work with our expert team of litigation, government regulatory, cybersecurity and data privacy lawyers across the country and the world, who are highly experienced in counseling clients in their most difficult situations, as well as addressing governmental investigations, private litigation and other proceedings. Greenberg Traurig will also work hand-in-hand with Giuliani Partners, global security consultants, with whom we will now enjoy a close strategic alliance," said Rosenbaum.

Rudy Giuliani Responds in Kind

Mr. Giuliani also responded in a similarly laudatory tone about his new employers, describing GT as a "top-tier and highly sophisticated player in [the cybersecurity] space."

Mr. Giuliani, for his part, has somewhat of a personal interest tied to his new position, seeing as he was the mayor of NYC when the 9/11 terror attacks took place. This was a seminal moment, many believe, when cyberterrorism also began to take hold in changing the face of warfare.

About Greenberg Traurig

The firm that Giuliani now joins is respected as one of the world's largest and most storied law firms, with about 1,900 attorneys in offices all over the planet. Locations can be found in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
