Rob Kardashian Accused of Robbery Over Shirtless Photos
Rob Kardashian is accused of robbery by a photographer who claims the reality-TV personality stole a memory card from her camera.
The reason apparently being that the photographer had snapped some unflattering pictures of Kardashian, who packed on weight after breaking up with girlfriend Rita Ora last year, reports The Huffington Post.
While Rob Kardashian has made it public that he plans to drop 40 pounds, he apparently isn't too pleased about his progress thus far.
The photographer reportedly filed a robbery complaint against Rob Kardashian. She claims Kardashian grabbed her camera, removed the card, and struck her in the face during the struggle.
As Kardashian ran off, he allegedly promised to pay the photographer for the stolen memory card, TMZ reports.
The officers who arrived at the scene placed Kardashian in handcuffs. However, he was not arrested and was released after questioning.
Just because Kardashian was released, this does not mean that he cannot later be charged with a crime. And because of the alleged physical altercation, Kardashian could face the more severe charge of robbery as opposed to simple theft.
Generally, when someone steals something, that person can be charged with theft. This includes shoplifting or lifting a smartphone that is left on a table. However, when physical force (or the threat of physical force) is used during a theft, then the suspect can be charged with robbery instead.
Since Rob Kardashian allegedly confronted the photographer and forcibly removed the memory card, he could be charged with robbery. While Kardashian reportedly did state that he was going to pay the photographer back for the stolen memory card, this likely will not be a valid defense to a robbery charge.
First, it doesn't appear that he's actually paid the photographer yet. Second, you generally cannot take something against another person's will and avoid charges just because you promise to pay them back. This is especially true when the victim doesn't agree to the terms of the deal.
