Real World's Puck Sentenced to Parenting Classes
Former MTV's Real World reality star Puck was sentenced to parenting classes over his recent domestic violence charge. Puck, otherwise known as David Rainey, will spend 4 years on probation.
He will also attend 52 weeks of a domestic violence counseling program and 52 parenting classes in Los Angeles. Puck will also need to serve 30 days on a highway cleanup patrol.
Puck's sentence stems from his domestic violence arrest in June. It's unclear what he was doing at the time, though he was charged with child endangerment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, domestic battery, and corporal injury on a spouse.
It seems that most likely, the Puckster wasn't being a model citizen at the time.
Puck managed to hammer out a deal with prosecutors so that the child endangerment and corporal injury on a spouse charges were dismissed. He pled no contest to the remaining two charges.
Puck should count his blessings. It's a wonder he won't be spending time in jail for his recent transgressions despite his rap sheet:
- 2003: Arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.
- 2009: Arrested and served a year in jail for battering his girlfriend.
- 2010: Arrested for driving under the influence after he flipped his car.
Judges usually take previous convictions and offenses into account when they sentence offenders.
The former MTV star's criminal history likely weighed against him during sentencing.
The LA Judge took it easy on Mr. Rainey, to be sure. Puck was probably sentenced to attend the domestic violence and parenting classes in the hopes that he'll actually learn something. If he finds himself in court again, don't expect him to get off so easily.
