Rapper TI Arrested on Drug Charges

Live Your Life was the chart topping song that put Atlanta-based rapper T.I. on the music radar last year. Unfortunately, it appears that T.I. may be living his life outside the confines of the law. T.I. and his wife, Tameka Cottle (aka, Tiny),  were arrested in West Hollywood late Wednesday night on drug charges.

The Los Angeles Times reports on the incident: "During the course of a traffic stop, deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A narcotics investigation ensued, during which T.I. and his wife were found to be in possession of a controlled substance." T.I. was initially pulled over for making an illegal U-turn. Police also found ecstasy pills in the car.

The 29 year-old T.I. is currently on probation after serving seven months in prison on federal weapons charges. The new drug charges will likely have a major impact on his probation. Typically, probation violations result in increased fines, an increased probation sentence, and possible jail time depending on the nature of the violation.

Although likely the making of a new hit single, T.I. may be enjoying his success in a jail cell ... again. Considering that this is not T.I.'s first drug charge (or probation violation for that matter), the probation judge has a lot of discretion to enter a sentence that will hopefully teach the rapper to live his life legally. As for Tameka Cottle, the former singer and reality television star posted the $10,000 bail and is due back in court next week. First time drug possession charges can result in fines and up to one year in prison.
