Rapper Flo Rida Avoids Jail Over Bugatti DUI Arrest

Rapper Flo Rida's DUI arrest won't be netting him any jail time. Flo Rida was busted in his 2008 Bugatti earlier this year in Miami Beach when he was spotted driving erratically.

After police stopped his car, Flo Rida apparently felt the need to confess. He told officers he had a few drinks and couldn't walk a straight line as part of the field sobriety test. He was also driving with a suspended license.

How is it that he's going to get off without spending any time behind bars?

The 32-year-old artist reportedly made a deal with prosecutors. He will be enrolled in the state's "Back on Track" program.

The program is available to first-time offenders like Flo Rida. In lieu of jail, the artist will have to perform community service, take DUI courses, and pay fees and court costs.

All in all, it sounds like a sweet deal for the hip hop star. The Good Feeling rapper is probably, well, felling really good right about now.

Alternative sentencing is actually not that rare. Depending on the jurisdiction and the judge, DUI offenders can expect a variety of different punishments. Prison time may be mandated in some cases, and sometimes people will lose their license.

Some states may also impose the use of vehicle ignition interlock devices (IIDs) that will require a sober breath sample before unlocking a car's ignition.

Rapper Flo Rida's DUI sentence for community service is also relatively common. Of course, if he's popped for drunk driving again, it's doubtful a judge will as lenient. The next time Flo Rida takes his Bugatti out for a spin, he best make sure he's sober enough to drive.
