Puddle of Mudd's Wes Scantlin Lands in Jail for Being Drunk on Plane
Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin was arrested after partying a bit too much like a rock star on a JetBlue flight.
The flight was halfway from Boston to Los Angeles when Scantlin allegedly got into it with a flight attendant over alcohol. The "Blurry" singer was reportedly already intoxicated, but wanted to drink some more. A flight attendant apparently told the rock star that he'd had enough, which led to an altercation, reports E! News.
The argument over the in-flight booze was apparently serious enough that the pilots diverted the flight and made an unscheduled landing in Austin, Texas.
Once the flight landed, Wes Scantlin found himself in a legal puddle of mud as he was greeted by Texas law enforcement officers. The singer was charged with public intoxication and will likely face federal charges of interference with a flight crew, reports E! News.
Scantlin was transported and booked at a Texas jail, where he currently remains behind bars. It's interesting to note that the alleged drunken episode may have occurred over several states as the flight made its way from Massachusetts to California. Yet the Puddle of Mudd singer was arrested and apparently charged with public intoxication under Texas law.
The singer may want to contact a good criminal defense attorney to determine whether the state even has jurisdiction over the incident. Texas prosecutors may try to argue that once the flight landed in Austin, and Scantlin walked off the plane intoxicated, he was fair game for Texas authorities.
The Puddle of Mudd singer's arrest after the alleged drunken incident on a JetBlue flight was not the first legal mixup for Wes Scantlin. He's been arrested for public intoxication in the past, after a drunken performance. He's also been previously charged with cocaine possession and failure to pay taxes.
