Prostitutes, Mobsters, Cops Mingled at Rothstein's Law Firm

Interested attorneys can now take a glimpse into life at disbarred Florida attorney Scott Rothstein's law firm. Transcripts of his December 14 deposition testimony were released this week. And boy did the place sound seedy: hookers, cops, and criminals all strolled around freely in the firm's heyday.

Rothstein was the brains behind a billion-dollar Ponzi scheme in Florida. He was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison over the fraud. Rothstein was the co-founder of the now-defunct law firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler.

Maybe it was because of the criminal association, but apparently clients weren't the only ones that visited the office. On any given day, prostitutes, mobsters, and cops could be seen circulating -- and mingling -- in the law firm's halls, according to his testimony.

Does this sound exciting? Well, we haven't even gotten to the good part.

Some might feel uncomfortable having prostitutes in the office when officers are present. Rothstein said that having cops around actually made it easier to deal -- because the police were also sleeping with the prostitutes.

That's why he felt he could have all the escorts he wanted. After all, the police department wasn't exactly going to bother him. Their officers partook in his prostitutes' services.

Well, remember that Rothstein is not only disbarred, he's facing a long jail sentence. Fifty years in prison is a long time. If Rothstein, 49, serves out his entire sentence, he will be geriatric by the time he's released.
