Prince Sued by Former Attorney for Unpaid Fees
The Artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince is being sued by his former attorney.
Prince has been sued for $50,000 by attorney Ed McPherson. The lawsuit claims that Prince never paid for his work on two cases. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior court on August 3. The suit alleges that Prince, Paisley Park Enterprises, Inc. and NPG Records breached their legal services agreement by failing to pay for legal McPherson's legal work. The lawsuit is seeking at least $49,987.74 plus interest, costs of bringing the lawsuit to recover fees and for such other and further relief as the court deems just and proper.
McPherson is known for a celebrity book of business including Lindsay Lohan, Sandra Bullock and Stevie Nicks. Prince hired McPherson for a 2009 case involving a lawsuit brought by his former agent, Vigliano Associates, and a separate lawsuit accusing Prince of fraud over a real estate deal, according to RadarOnline.com.
According to the lawsuit, McPherson defended Prince and the other defendants and McPherson obtained settlements in two cases. Despite the vigorous defense, McPherson claims that he was never paid. McPherson states in the lawsuit that he has made "countless attempts ... to resolve this matter" with Prince due to the lack of response, he is seeking an order from the court to compel Prince to pay, according to TMZ.com.
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, is perhaps most famous for "Purple Rain," and has won seven Grammy Awards. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and actor.
