Preliminary Injunction Stops Jon Gosselin Media Appearances
Have you been wondering why you haven't seen many media appearances by Jon Gosselin lately?
A Maryland judge recently granted a preliminary injunction ordering the reality TV dad to stop making media appearances.
This is the latest to unfold in Jon Gosselin's ongoing legal battles against the TLC cable network.
CNN reports that, TLC won a preliminary injunction against Gosselin that prevents the reality TV dad to stop making media appearances and endorsements the TLC network claim violate his contract.
The cable network argued that Gosselin's paid and unpaid media appearances -- including hosting a party in Las Vegas -- violated his contract with the network.
Gosselin's lawyer Mark Heller said he was confident Gosselin would eventually win the case against the network.
The trial in the case has been set for April 19.
As previously discussed, in Gosselin's countersuit of $5 million against TLC, he claims the network damaged his reputation and career by preventing him from working with other media outlets.
Gosselin says he has a right to earn a living as a media personality and making media appearances.
He also claims the network breached its own contract and owes him $175,000 for shows that already aired. The Gosselins' contract, dated April 28, 2008, says he gets $22,500 for each half-hour episode and $45,000 for each one-hour episode, according to the lawsuit.
Lastly, he claims in a countersuit that TLC violated Pennsylvania's child labor laws in filming his eight children.
That information came courtesy of Michael Lohan who as previously discussed, told everything he knows to TLC about Gosselin's relationship with the network. Lohan was deposed by TLC in their lawsuit against Gosselin.
Previous to that, Lohan taped his conversation from several months ago with Gosselin lambasting the media and then released the audio files to Rap Radar's blog web site.
Recently Gosselin, star of TLC's hit reality show "Jon and Kate Plus 8," did not show up to a hearing in his legal fight with the network.
Gosselin's lawyer said TLC is trying "to preclude him from going out and trying to support his eight children".
The show ended recently amid the legal dispute and the Gosselins' pending divorce.
