Paz de la Huerta Sues Harvey Weinstein for Sexual Assault

Add another sexual assault lawsuit on to the docket for Harvey Weinstein. Paz de la Huerta, an actor, is suing Harvey Weinstein in a California court for sexual assault, sexual battery, and emotional distress. She is also including the Four Seasons and the now-defunct Weinstein Company as defendants in her suit.

Blackballed for Refusing Advances

Paz de la Huerta claims the raped her twice at her apartment in New York City, exposed himself to her at a Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, and then told others in the entertainment industry not to do business with her after she refused his advances at the hotel. She claims that because of Weinstein, her HBO contract for Boardwalk Empire was not renewed, costing her $60 million in earnings.

Similar Facts to Other Weinstein Assault Cases

The lawsuit chronicles the two alleged rapes from December 2010 that Paz de la Huerta had previously reported to the New York police last year, where no charges have been filed to date. But the lawsuit also details an alleged sexual assault that occurred at a Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills in January 2011.

Many of the alleged facts in the hotel incident are substantially similar to other sexual assault and battery suits against Weinstein. For instance, Paz de la Huerta claims when she went to confront him in his hotel room, he answered the door in a bathrobe and exposed himself to the actor. Paz de la Huerta also alleges Weinstein tried to get her to have a sexual encounter with him and another woman.

Weinstein Has a Long List of Suiters, Not Suitors

Over 75 women have accused Weinstein of similar wrongdoing, with investigations spanning at least two continents and various countries, including England, Scotland, France and Germany. He is facing criminal as well as civil charges, spanning from sex trafficking to death threats.
