Pa. Mom Charged in Son's Death Gets Another DUI

Christa Logue, a mother who was charged with vehicular homicide in connection with the DUI crash that killed her 14-year-old son Joshua Gibson, has been charged with another DUI this past week.

Logue, of Erie, Pennsylvania, was charged in her son's death after a fatal crash a year ago on Interstate 79.

The fatal crash occurred when the car she was driving went off the road, hit an embankment and rolled. Logue was tested and was shown to have a blood alcohol level of 0.12, reports the Valley News Dispatch.

Logue had been set free while awaiting the trial over the fatal crash on the condition that she not drink, reports the Erie Times-News.

But, she did. Logue was arrested after she was seen driving through a stop sign on the road. She also went 45 in a 25 mph zone. When police stopped her car, they said they saw her try to cover up an open beer can, and that Logue admitted that she had drank alcohol and had taken some depression medicine.

Instead of putting her in jail, a judge decided to put Logue under monitoring after her most recent DUI arrest. She will have to wear an ankle bracelet and be tested for drugs and alcohol three times a week, the Erie Times-News reports.

Vehicular homicide is one of several felonies that can arise out of traffic incidents. DUIs and DWIs can also be traffic felonies, along with some "hit and run" offenses.

Vehicular homicide can also be known as involuntary manslaughter. Involuntary manslaughter is an unintentional killing that is the result of negligence or recklessness. Driving while under the influence is an example.

Christa Logue's trial over the death of her son, Joshua Gibson, is set for November, reports the Valley News Dispatch.
