New South Dakota Law Bans Most Abortions

Mounting a challenge to the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, South Dakota governor Mike Rounds signed legislation that would ban most abortions in the state. The South Dakota Women's Health and Human Life Protection Act would make it illegal for doctors to perform abortions unless the procedure is deemed necessary in order to save the woman's life.
