'Neighbor From Hell' Gets 90 Days for Terrorizing Family

The real neighbor from hell lives on a quiet cul-de-sac in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Or so says the neighbors of Lori Christensen, some of whom have taken out restraining orders against the 49-year-old woman.

Christensen was back in court on Wednesday to deal with one of those orders. Neighbors Greg and Kim Hoffman accused her of violating its terms, which led prosecutors to charge the woman with aggravated stalking.

Christensen got a 90-day sentence and some national notoriety for her criminal antics. She's also been ordered to stay at least 1 mile away from her home.

This story actually began 5 years ago when Lori Christensen started harassing the Hoffmans, reports the Star Tribune. She would publicly yell at them, go on tirades against their children, make rude gestures and follow the family around. She would also erect signs taunting Kim Hoffman's status as a recovering alcoholic, explains KARE-TV. She's been sober for 3 years.

In 2010, Christensen pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors after she violated the Hoffman's restraining order. In 2011, the neighbor from hell was convicted of a related felony and jailed for a month, reports the TV station.

The Hoffmans aren't the only family affected by this behavior. Lori Christensen's next-door neighbor also has a restraining order, notes the Star Tribune. Another neighbor was so fed up she moved.

As you can see, she didn't have to move. If neighbor harassment becomes this serious, a court will issue a restraining order that effectively requires the neighbor to move out of her house. But to get to this point, you need to be diligent, much like the Hoffmans.

Not only did they make dozens of phone calls, they videotaped and kept records of the harassment. This kind of evidence against neighbor from hell Lori Christensen solidified their case.
