Naked Couple Gave Acid to Their Daschund, Dog Then Killed by Car
Georgia residents Nicholas Modrich and Jamie Hughes gave acid to their dog, a long-haired dachshund named Oscar.
The poor dog was reportedly struck and killed by a car about a half mile from Modrich and Hughes' residence.
The couple might face charges of animal cruelty.
The bizarre and tragic events unfolded over the weekend. Modrich and Hughes were both reportedly running around naked along a road. They were "tripping pretty hard," according to Georgia police Captain Harold Thomas.
When questioned, the couple said they were in a fidgety state because their dog was missing. Earlier, they had taken acid, smoked weed, and drank alcoholic beverages. They even gave the unsuspecting dog LSD. The dog was given a drug-laced gummy worm.
Can the Georgia couple be charged with animal cruelty?
Under the Georgia statute, animal cruelty charges can arise if someone causes death or unjustifiable physical pain or suffering to any animal. This can arise out of a purposeful act, omission, or willful neglect.
The couple's actions certainly seemed to have caused the death of the poor dog. It's possible that the dachshund fled onto the street only because it was drugged.
So far, Nicholas Modrich and Jamie Hughes haven't been charged with animal cruelty for giving acid to Oscar. But it's a possibility. The couple is expected to face drug charges over the LSD, reports MSNBC. They were also investigated for disorderly conduct.
