Muslims, Obama Voters Not Welcome in TX Gun Safety Class
Crocket Keller's gun glass is open to all: except non-Christian Muslims and those that voted for President Obama. Keller purchased some radio air time for his concealed hand gun course, held at the Keller's Riverside Store in Texas.
During one part of the advertisement, Keller specifically includes a disclaimer that says he excludes liberals and Muslims.
Why? It's because these two classes of individuals "have already proven" that they are unable to "make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as under the law."
Is this kind of discrimination legal?
Keller says that he hasn't gotten many complaints about his student selection practice. In fact, he staunchly defended his right to choose who to teach.
His controversial radio ad also garnered attention. On YouTube, the spot got 1,000 views the first day and had 17,000 views by the third, reports the Houston Chronicle.
Despite the advertisement's popularity, Keller may be violating regulations.
In a statement, the Texas Department of Public Safety says that they license and certify certain individuals to teach coursework and provide training to those looking to get their concealed handgun license. The statement goes on to explain that instructors are expected to adhere with state and federal statutes.
Specifically, if an instructor denies service to potential students on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion, Keller could be at risk of suspension or revocation.
Considering Keller is making no qualms that he will deny students if they are Muslim, his license may be in a precarious position.
The Department has now started to investigate Crockett Keller's gun class. It might soon mean that the Keller's Riverside Store owner will face penalties if he doesn't open his course to individuals from all backgrounds.
