More Committee Vacancies in D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals

The deadline for committee vacancies at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is approaching fast.

The Court of Appeals has announced that it will be filling vacancies on several of its committees. The vacancies are for three-year terms that start on July 1, 2012. If you're looking for a chance to get involved with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, this could be you chance to get in on the action.

The committees that have vacancies include the Advisory Committee on Admissions and Grievances, the Advisory Committee on Procedures and the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel Committee.

The Advisory Committee on Admissions and Grievances

There are two vacancies on this committee. This committee assists the Court of Appeals with two main things: acting on applications for admission to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals bar and complaints of misconduct.

The committee conducts investigations from time to time. Its members are also charged with holding hearings on disciplinary matters as well as making reports on such issues.

Criminal Justice Act Panel Committee

There is one vacancy on this committee, limited to a practitioner who is already on the CJA Panel.

The committee is responsible for re-examining the CJA list annually to make sure that it's current and that its members are qualified.

The Advisory Committee on Procedures

This committee will have at least three vacancies. Members of this committee study the rules and internal operating procedures of the court while making recommendations to the court.
