Want to keep abreast of the Michael Jackson trial? There's an app for that. And it's creatively dubbed the "Michael Jackson Doctor Trial iPhone App."

Released by Fox News, the app lets viewers follow the happenings of the high-profile Conrad Murray trial. And it's moving like hotcakes.

It costs 99 cents to download the application onto an iPhone. But that small fee hasn't barred curious viewers and Jackson fans from downloading the application. It now tops the charts at No. 1 for pay-news applications in the Apple store. Overall, it ranks No. 75 for all pay-applications.

The trial follows the criminal prosecution of Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician. Prosecutors charged Murray with involuntary manslaughter over the singer's death.

They allege that the doctor was negligent in administering a surgical-grade anesthetic to ease Jackson's insomnia. They also say that Murray left Jackson unattended as the pop icon died and failed to call 911 when it was obvious the singer needed medical attention.

Considering Jackson's stardom and the widespread publicity surrounding his death, it's not surprising that the trial is getting wall-to-wall coverage. With the mobile application, individuals can easily keep abreast of the case.

The application provides live streaming from the courtroom, video highlights, court documents and analysis. It's got everything a savvy celebrity trial viewer needs.

Is the Michael Jackson trial app legal? Sure. For the most part, criminal trials are open to the public. Many judicial proceedings are considered public record and ordinary citizens are usually allowed to sit in on trials. Now curious fans armed with the "Michael Jackson Doctor Trial" app can monitor the trial everywhere they go.
