Meet the Celeb Lawyer in Charge of Khloe and Lamar's Non-Divorce

Nothing reignites a romance like a near death experience during an extended stay in a Nevada brothel. After Lamar Odom was found unconscious at the Love Ranch, it came out that the NBA and reality television star had never divorced his ex, Khloe Kardashian. Now, Lamar is recovering and so is their relationship -- celebrity news sources announced yesterday that the couple was calling off the divorce.

Who shepherded them through their prostitute and herbal Viagra-aided reconciliation? None other than Laura Wasser, the "queen of divorce." Here's what you need to know about the master of celebrity splits and now reconciliations.

Need to Divorce Your Movie Star Spouse?

If you need a divorce in Hollywood, Laura Wasser is often your go-to. She's handled the divorces of Heidi Klum, Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears, and even Melanie Griffith and Shaquille O'Neal (not from each other).

Some of her clients are so happy, they recommend her to their sisters. Wasser handled Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries after a 72-day marriage. When sister Khloe wanted a break from her own marriage, she turned to Wasser as well -- that is, before Odom got sick on love (and other things) and won her back.

Those celebrity clients don't get her work for cheap either -- though Wasser does do some pro bono family law. Her hourly rates were $750 in 2011, according to the Los Angeles Times. We can't imagine they've gone down since then.

She's a Real Californian

Wasser's life and career have centered on the Los Angeles elite. As a child, she attended Beverly Hills High School, of Beverly Hills 90210 fame. She went to U.C. Berkeley for undergrad and got her J.D. from L.A.'s Loyola Law School in 1994.

Even California's former first lady Maria Shriver turned to Wasser when divorcing Arnold Schwarzenegger. We assume she calls Interstate 5 "The Five" and can give clients great directions through L.A. traffic.

Divorce Is in her Blood

For Wasser, divorce is a family affair. Her father, Dennis Wasser, is also a major celebrity divorce lawyer. He was named the sixth best divorce attorney in the country in 2013 by Above the Law. The two practice together in the same L.A. family law firm and have for Wasser's whole career.

But, for someone who is surrounded by divorce, Wasser has a very relaxed approach to her own family relationships. She married without a prenup, saying they ruined romance. (The marriage was annulled shortly after she passed the bar.) She has two kids with two different men, neither of which she's entered into a formal custody agreement or support order with, she told A Lawyer's Life last year -- though she wouldn't recommend that approach for her clients.
