Man Sues Parents for Destroying $30k Porn Collection

Moving back in with your parents, as an adult, can be difficult. For one Michigan man, what the Beastie Boys said has never been truer:

Man living at home is such a drag;

Now your mom threw away your best porno mag.

But what really takes the cake is the fact that the man is now suing his parents over a $30,000 pornography collection that was destroyed. As the story goes, the man moved back in with his folks after getting divorced. After he moved out several months later, he left several boxes of belongings, including 12 full moving boxes worth of pornography and 2 boxes of sex toys. When his parents delivered his belongings, he realized that his precious 14 boxes worth of porn and sex toys were missing.

Cops Refuse to Press Charges

Before our lawsuit-happy hero filed his civil suit against his parents, he tried to get the police to press criminal charges against his parents. Even after showing the police emails in which his father admitted to destroying and disposing of the boxes, which he explains took a very long time (presumably because there was so much of it), no charges were filed against the parents. The parents claimed that they told him not to bring any of that stuff into their home, and he did anyway. The parents also claimed that he had “issues” with it, and that they had to kick him out due to a domestic incident.

In the email exchange, the man’s father explains that he destroyed his son’s collection for his son’s own mental and emotional heath, and further told his son that he would have done the same if he found a kilo of crack-cocaine.

Silly Lawsuit, Big Damages

While the collection had been previously estimated at roughly $30,000, the man’s lawsuit seeks close to $90,000. And, surprisingly, despite how silly it might all sound, he might actually have a case as landlords cannot just dispose of items left behind.
