CN Man Tried to Break His Dog Out of the Dog Pound

A Connecticut man tried to steal his own dog from a pound Monday morning - and failed.

Walther Scovish, 55, was arrested and charged with burglary and trespass, amongst other charges, after his unsuccessful doggy rescue attempt.

Why was Scovish's dog in the pound in the first place? It's because Scovish was arrested last week on charges of heroin possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to The Hartford Courant.

Missy, Scovish's Italian greyhound, was with Scovish when he was arrested and was placed in the local pound over the weekend, The Hartford Courant reports.

Scovish was released on Friday, and was told that he could get his dog back on Tuesday, according to NBC Connecticut

It seems that patience is not one of Scovish's strong suits.

Instead of waiting until Tuesday, Scovish tried breaking into the dog pound on Monday to steal his own dog, reports The Hartford Courant.

Scovish says his dog has special needs, which likely prompted him to try to break into the pound.

Maybe this move isn't even that surprising. After all, they say that a dog is a man's best friend. Dogs show their loyalty to human beings time and again, so maybe it's only natural that Scovish would be impulsively loyal to his own mutt.

Unfortunately, Scovish's little stunt has only resulted in additional criminal charges. Missy remains at the shelter, while Scovish is in jail in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

For those wondering why his bond is so high, it's probably because Walther Scovish isn't just a man who tried to steal his own dog. In an attempt to break into the pound, Scovish also broke into the fire department's training area and a nearby landscaping facility to steal some tools to break into the dog pound, according to The Hartford Courant.
