Socialite Paris Hilton's house is quite the break-in target these days. A jewel heist that caused the celebrity to lose almost $2 million in high-end jewelry in 2008, and now an unidentified man has been arrested trying to break into the 29 year-old's Hollywood Hills mansion.

People Magazine quotes Hilton's rep: "In the early hours of this morning an armed man with two kitchen knives attempted to break into Paris Hilton's home when she was sleeping. The security cameras and alarm system were alerted and the police immediately came to the house and arrested the intruder who was attempting to break a window when they arrived." There were no reported injuries in the failed break-in.

Of course, Hilton took to twitter with a less eloquent rendition of the early morning arrest (in addition to tweeting a picture of the police), "So scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knives." Being that the intruder did not actually make it inside Miss Hilton's adobe, he is still guilty of attempted burglary. When attempt is placed before an illegal act, it means that the individual tried but was in some way unsuccessful in his or her efforts.

Attempt is a relatively easy to prove if there has been some type of overt act by the individual in furtherance of their criminal design. In this case, Hilton's intruder was not only on her property, but was also caught with two kitchen knives actively attempting to break a window when the police came...like so scary.
