The Making a Murderer series on Netflix is back for its second season, and the new star is Steven Avery's new defense attorney, Kathleen Zellner.

Viewers and social media are loving her, and it's probably due to the fact that she's tenacious and persuasive. If that name sounds familiar, it's because you've probably read one of the many stories about one of the many wrongfully convicted clients that she has helped to free from prison. And if she's successful at freeing Steven Avery, she'll bring that count up to 20. Simply put, in the civil rights world, she's already a star, so she seemed to be a natural fit for Avery and the documentary.

A New Investigation

Zellner has been rather vocal on social media about her firmly-held belief that Steven Avery is innocent. However, she has put in the leg work to get that certainty. She has engaged expert witnesses, reviewed evidence that wasn't previously disclosed, and taken the investigation to a whole new level.

Apparently, Zellner went so far as to purchase the same type of car the victim had in order for her experts to conduct experiments to verify the prosecution's evidence. Basically, she's pulling out all the stops and sparing no expense.

Social Media Strategy

Zellner clearly isn't a stranger to social media, with a Twitter following of over 300K. Surprisingly though, she isn't afraid to make her case there either. She has responded to several tweets asking her questions about the evidence and her strategy.

Some of those tweets are rather specific, while others are clearly meant as internet humor, which she masterfully handles.
