Lindsey Buckingham Settles Lawsuit With Ex-Bandmates in Fleetwood Mac

Another battle has ended between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, but could this be the end of the war as well? After nearly fifty years of playing together, and a game of musical chairs among guitarists and singers, it looks like this could be the final final for Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac.

Go Your Own Way

In October, Buckingham brought a lawsuit against his former bandmates for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of oral contract, and breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, among other claims, after the band excluded him from their North America tour back in January of 2018. Buckingham claimed this cost him $14 million in lost earnings. Fleetwood Mac never commented on the suit, other than to say they looked forward to their day in court. Evidently now that day will never come.

Second Hand News

The band had played together in New York City at a live performance, MusiCares, which incidentally was honoring them for Person of the Year. Allegedly, Stevie Nicks took issue with something that transpired and told the band's manager she never wanted to be on stage with Buckingham again. Five days later, Buckingham was informed by his manager that Fleetwood Mac would go on their North America tour without him.

Buckingham claims he has no idea why he was kicked out of the band, but does admit that he asked the band to push back the tour so that he could promote his new solo album. Buckingham backed down from that request, after finding out he had been cut out, and asked band founder Mick Fleetwood if he could still join the tour, but Buckingham never got a response.

Never Going Back Again

Fast forward two months later. Buckingham now claims that the lawsuit has been settled amicably, and that both sides have signed off on a settlement with undisclosed details. "I'm happy enough with it," Buckingham said. Representatives for both Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac have offered no further comment. When asked in a recent interview if he thinks he will eventually reunite with the band, Buckingham replied, "I'm pretty much figuring that I won't."

Yep, we've all heard that one before!
