Lindsay Lohan's Alleged Lies to Police May Violate Probation

Lindsay Lohan could go to jail for a jewelry theft last year if it's determined that she lied to police about a car accident this year.

The 26-year-old actress could be in trouble again as Santa Monica police want to question Lohan about an accident in June, when her car crashed into an 18-wheeler, reports the New York Daily News.

Lohan initially told police her assistant was driving when the crash happened. However, the assistant later contradicted her story, reports the Daily News.

So how is Lindsay Lohan's alleged lying to police about the car crash related to her jewelry theft?

Last year, Lohan was accused of stealing a necklace when she walked out of a jewelry store without paying for the necklace. To avoid jail time, Lohan agreed to a no contest plea. As a result, Lohan was sentenced to probation, with the stipulation that she could be sent to jail if she violated the terms of her probation.

Staying out of trouble with the law is apparently one of the conditions of Lohan's probation. So if it is determined that she lied to police (a crime that could be punished by up to a year in jail), she may have to serve additional jail time related to the jewelry theft.

It's notable that Lindsay Lohan's alleged lying to police about the June car crash is the second incident in recent weeks that could send LiLo to jail for violating her probation. Lohan was accused of stealing $100,000 worth of watches and sunglasses after a Hollywood Hills house party last week, though the host of the party later changed his story and said nothing was stolen.
