Lindsay Lohan's Alcohol Monitoring Bracelet Set off at MTV Awards
The spotlight on actress Lindsay Lohan at the MTV Awards just got a little bit brighter as the alarm on her alcohol monitoring bracelet went off alerting authorities.
The incident drew attention to Lindsay Lohan at the MTV Movie Awards, when Lohan's alcohol monitoring bracelet alarm went off, alerting the device monitoring company, the Los Angeles Times reports.
According to the Times, the monitoring company reported the incident to the Los Angeles County Probation Department and the Superior Court judge in Beverly Hills who is handling Lohan's case.
As previously discussed, a judge has ordered Lindsay Lohan to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet and required to report to drug testing every week in the Los Angeles area.
It will be left up to Judge Marsha Revel to decide whether the alarm constitutes a violation of the actress' bail agreement related to a probation violation on a 2007 drunk driving case.
A violation could result in Lohan being sent to jail.
Judge Revel ordered her to wear the alcohol monitoring bracelet after she missed a mandatory hearing, claiming her passport had been stolen while she was in Frances at the Cannes Film Festival. The bail was set at $100,000.
Lohan posted bail but was ordered to wear the alcohol monitoring bracelet.
Lohan had been on probation since 2007, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine; no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving.
Lohan's new bail conditions include random weekly drug testing. She also must attend all of her alcohol classes as scheduled.
Lohan's alcohol monitoring bracelet is designed to check for traces of alcohol in the perspiration of the user. Any effort to tamper with the 10-ounce device immediately sends out an alert.
