Lindsay Lohan Arrested After Alleged Hit-and-Run of Pedestrian
Lindsay Lohan was arrested for allegedly striking a pedestrian and then leaving the scene of the accident.
The alleged incident occurred early this morning in an alleyway between two hotels in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.
A pedestrian said that he had just gotten off of work when Lohan's black Porsche SUV came "real quick" and hit him, reports the New York Daily News. The man claimed that Lohan then got out of her car while slurring her words and reeking of alcohol.
The star allegedly did not offer to help the pedestrian, and instead told him to get out of the way. The man said that Lohan had two male passengers in the car; after the accident, Lohan moved to the back seat while one of the men hopped into the driver's seat and drove off, reports the Daily News.
Lohan was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, but she apparently was not jailed. Police also seem to have a slightly different version of the incident.
New York City's police commissioner stated that police do not think Lohan was intoxicated, though no Breathalyzer test was performed, reports the Daily News. And instead of driving "real quick," police say the actress was driving very slowly to maneuver around a crowd of people when she "brushe[d] against this one guy." In fact, Lohan says she wasn't even aware that she'd hit anybody.
Regardless of how serious the impact (if any) and how fast Lohan was driving, the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident must remain at the scene of the accident. (You'd think car-accident-prone LiLo would have learned this by now.)
Lohan's criminal charge could also potentially be considered a violation of probation in her jewelry-theft case, as she's been specifically ordered to obey all laws, TMZ reports.
