Las Vegas Denny's Wedding Chapel a Grand Slam for Diner Fans

If you're jonesing to get hitched in Las Vegas but The Little White Chapel is packed, there's always The Large Yellow Denny's Chapel. A Las Vegas Denny's restaurant opened a full-service wedding chapel inside its dining area this week.

Nancy Levandowski and Steven Keller from Ames, Iowa, were the first couple to take the plunge in syrup-soaked nuptials, reports The Las Vegas Sun. But will their Denny's marriage be legally valid?

Las Vegas Marriage License Requirements

Just imagine it: A forkful of your Grand Slam Breakfast in one hand and a marriage license in the other. And, according to UPI, you even get 20% off your food bill! But is a Denny's marriage legal?

For a Denny's wedding to be legal, a couple must obtain a valid marriage license by meeting certain requirements, which include:

  • Applying for the marriage license in person at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau;
  • Being a heterosexual couple (a biological male and a biological female) and be at least 18 years old;
  • Bringing valid identification;
  • Complying with citizenship requirements;
  • Providing your Social Security number; and
  • Paying a $60 fee.

Marriage Licenses in Nevada

Unlike some other states, there is no waiting period or blood testing required to get a Las Vegas marriage license. A Las Vegas marriage license is valid for a year, which means a wedding ceremony must be conducted in Las Vegas within one year of obtaining the license.

After you get your marriage license, you can get hitched at the Denny's Chapel without a hitch. For out-of-towners who want in on the Denny's Chapel, rest assured that your Nevada license will be recognized in other states.
