Lady Gaga Getting Sued by Former Boyfriend Rob Fusari
Lady Gaga getting sued by her former boyfriend and collaborator for $30 million sheds new light on the Grammy award winner's hit single "Bad Romance."
Producer and songwriter Rob Fusari has filed a $30 million lawsuit against Lady Gaga and claims he was instrumental in the singer's success, MTV news reports.
He says they co-wrote songs and he came up with her stage name and helped get her record deal. When Lady Gaga's (whose her real name is Stefani Germanotta) career began to soar, she ditched him, Fusari said.
The suit claims a breach of agreement and breach of fiduciary duty. According to Fusari's attorney he is asking for damages of at least $5 million.
The suit alleges Lady Gaga and Fusari became romantic and that he was an integral part of Lady Gaga's hit record "The Fame."
The suit presents a story that when Fusari addressed a cell phone text to Stefani Germanotta under the moniker "Radio Ga Ga" his cell phone's auto-correct converted "Radio" to "Lady," and that is how the name Lady Gaga came about.
In addition, the lawsuit describes in detail how Fusari, Lady Gaga's former boyfriend, was allegedly "frozen out" of her career and that she stopped taking his phone calls and responding to his texts or emails.
To date, the suit claims Fusari has received two checks totaling $203,000 and $394,965 in 2009 representing his 20 percent commission.
The lawsuit states that Fusari also has worked on hit songs like Will Smith's "Wild, Wild West" and Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious."
Lastly, the lawsuit claims Fusari has not received his share of Lady Gaga's song royalties, merchandising revenue and other fees.
