La. Residents Angered by Ferriday Drug Bust
Wouldn't you be ecstatic if the cops took down 30 drug dealers in your neighborhood? If they arrested known gang members who possessed half a kilo of cocaine, 20 lbs. of marijuana 8 oz. of crack and a number of firearms?
One would think elation would be the normal reaction, but it seems this is not always the case. Some residents in Ferriday, Louisiana are enraged that law enforcement carried out the above arrests. They say the Ferriday drug bust was just another way to knock them down.
The unsuspecting spokesman for these residents is Derrick Brown, a local who spoke to local station KALB-TV. The small town of 3,700 is lacking in jobs he explained, and selling drugs is how a number of residents make their money. The year-long investigation and takedown has put an end to their economic opportunities.
Brown goes on to complain that "every time we try to make a little something to get on our feet or try to feed our family they come kicking the doors in and knocking us back down again."
Yeah! Damn the man for making your neighborhood just a little bit safer!
The entirety of Brown's statement -- and those made by his more amused, less articulate neighbors -- can be seen in the below segment:
Raise your hand if you think Derrick Brown just inadvertently told the cops that he, too, should have been part of the Ferriday drug bust. Yeah, that probably wasn't the smartest of moves.
