Kim Kardashian's Prenuptial Agreement with Kris Humphries

Kris Humphries + Kim Kardashian = prenup. And then a marriage. The pragmatic Kim Kardashian's prenuptial agreement with her new fiancé Kris Humphries may seem unromantic, but given the state of Kardashian's finances, it's probably a wise move.

Kardashian herself has amassed an estimated $35-million fortune, reports the New York Daily News. And her fiancé, Humphries, is a New Jersey Nets star with a salary totaling $3.2 million a season. His family also owns several Five Guys Burgers and Fries locations in Minnesota, making his net worth around $8 million.

So, it seems only practical - and smart - that these two lovebirds hammer out a contingency plan in case their fairy tale marriage ends in divorce.

Humphries and Kardashian got engaged in May. Humphries had proposed to Kardashian by spelling out "will you marry me" in rose petals - and getting down on one knee with a 20.5 carat ring, reports the New York Daily News.

So, what's going to go into the prenup? Only Kardashian, Humphries, and their bevy of lawyers will know. But, in most cases, prenups outline what property is separate property and what property is community property.

The upside of having a prenup in place is that if things go south, there won't be a long, drawn-out divorce battle between over property, since the prenup will presumably already divide the assets as agreed.

Of course, there are some downsides to prenups. It's difficult to talk about a potential divorce during the whirlwind engagement period. And, there are instances where a court may overrule a provision of a prenuptial agreement if the provision goes against the interest of justice.

So, while Kim Kardashian's prenup may seem unromantic, it's really just pragmatic. And, as pragmatic as Kim Kardashian's prenuptial agreement may seem - in the end, it might not even be able to encapsulate all of her wishes.
