Kevin Spacey Arraigned for Sexually Assaulting Male Teen
Kevin Spacey, the actor who lost his job as President Frank Underwood on the Netflix series, House of Cards, after allegedly sexually assaulting over a dozen young males, has now been arrested for felonious sexual assault. He has hence issued a cryptic video clip, via YouTube, and everyone is wondering if art is imitating life, or vice versa.
Spacey Allegedly Groped Teen
According to the complaint, Spacey allegedly sexually assaulted an 18 year old boy after plying him with alcohol at The Club Car, a restaurant in Nantucket, Massachusetts, back in 2016. The victim's mother is Heather Unruh, a former Boston news anchor. Unruh claims that after supplying her son with alcohol, Spacey stuck his hand inside the teen's pants and grabbed his genitals, and then encouraged her son to drink even more. Unruh claims that her son escaped when Spacey went to the bathroom.
This Could Be the Crime That Sticks to Spacey
Spacey has been accused of many other sexual assaults and harassments in the past year, prompting Netflix to kill off his character in the award winning show, House of Cards. Two of the claims cover events that transpired in Los Angeles years ago, past the California statute of limitations, and therefore only led to bad publicity, but not arrests. However, Spacey is still under investigation by Scotland Yard for three separate sexual assault allegations from the mid-2000s. But this could be the case that puts Spacey behind bars, if the allegations are true.
Not only is the case within the statute of limitations, but the victim, and his mother, are more than willing to support the district attorney on these charges. "I want to see Kevin Spacey go to jail," Unruh said at a news conference in November 2017. "I want to see Kevin Spacey have the hand of justice come down on him, not just for my son, but for the many others who have yet to speak their truth."
Spacey Posts Bizarre YouTube Video
Within minutes of the news breaking of his arraignment, Spacey took to the internet to post a few thoughts. In a YouTube video to which Netflix promises it has no ties, Spacey seems to take on his House of Cards character, Frank Underwood, though he could just as easily be speaking of his own criminal situation. Spacey looks straight into the camera, stating, "You wouldn't believe the worst without evidence, would you? You wouldn't rush to judgments without facts, would you? Did you?" he asks in the clip. "If you and I have learned nothing else this past year, it's that in life and in art, nothing should be off the table... If I didn't pay the price for the things we both know I did do, I'm certainly not going to pay the price for the things I didn't do." Frank, or Kevin, could be in for a shocking year in 2019.
If you have been sexually assaulted, speak with local law enforcement about the facts in your case to see if you can find any justice for the injustice done to you. Alternatively, or perhaps concurrently, contact a local personal injury attorney. Sexual assault is a civil offense as well as a crime. The burden of proof is lower in civil cases, and the statute of limitations may be different. You can't change the past, but you don't have to be a victim.
