Kate Major Accuses Michael Lohan of Domestic Violence

The Lohan clan didn't have enough to do recently, what with the incarnation of their most famous member, Miss Lindsay. So for good measure, a domestic violence dispute has broken out between Michael Lohan Sr. and fiancée Kate Major. The alleged altercation between the two has resulted in a reported "Temporary Order of Protection" for Major, against Lohan.

According to The HollywoodGossip, a fight broke out between Lohan and Kate Major just before Michael Sr. was due to depart to see his daughter surrender for her jail sentence. During the argument, Lohan allegedly pushed Major over a chair, injuring her shoulder. Then, she was kicked in the face while on the floor, according to her report with the Southampton, N.Y., Town Police.

The report resulted in the protective order from a Southampton judge. TMZ reports the order specifies that Lohan is prohibited from communicating with Major, or having any third parties threaten her. Further, Lohan may not engage in "any acts or threats of physical violence," something of course, that is already illegal. Lastly, Lohan must surrender any firearms he happens to have on hand.

Protective orders are typically used in domestic violence disputes to keep one party from having any contact with the other or from interfering with an order of the court. Protective orders are usually temporary measures that the court uses in order to halt suspected destructive or violent activity while the parties gather and present evidence to prove or disprove that a more permanent remedy is necessary. Most states require transmission of protective orders to local law enforcement agencies. Twelve states require transmission to law enforcement within 48 hours.

Reports say the argument between Michael Lohan and Kate Major began over an upcoming TV show in which Lohan has some kind of involvement. No report seems to know (or possibly care) much about it.
