Inmate Escapes Prison, Knocks on Prison Guard's Door, is Caught

A prison escapee knocks on a prison guard's door and gets caught. Sounds like a bad joke, right? Well, for prison inmate James Edward Russell, it was all too true.

Russell had escaped from the Olympic Corrections Center near Forks in Washington State last week, reports the AP.

He was in the middle of serving his fourth prison sentence since 1993. His most recent sentence was for theft and forgery, the AP reports.

He had just recently been transferred to a minimum security work camp prior to his escape, according to the AP.

Unfortunately for Russell, his escape was no "Shawshank Redemption"-like opus.

After Russell took off, he managed to make it to what he probably thought was some nondescript cabin. He was still wearing his red-issue prison shirt when he knocked on the cabin's door, asking to use the phone, reports the AP. Unfortunately, the man who lives in the cabin is an off-duty prison guard at the very same prison he had just run away from.

If there is any time to use an expletive or some foul language, it would probably be right there in that situation.

Unsurprisingly, a fight ensued between the off-duty guard and Russell. Russell managed to take off again, but the guard reported him to the authorities and he was caught shortly afterwards, reports the AP.

Now, not only has Russell likely made the books for one of the most ridiculous prison escapes ever, but he might actually be facing more jail time for his actions. He could face at least another year behind bars and most likely at a more secure facility, considering his predilection toward flight, reports the AP.

So, who wants to bet that current inmate and former prison escapee James Edward Russell will probably have to face a lot of "prison escapee knocks on prison guard's door, gets arrested" jokes in the future?
