What do you get when you put together a golf cart, a bottle of whiskey, and a scarecrow?

You get Jacqueline Hamilton, 59, of Indiana.

Hamilton was arrested last week after police responded to reports of an intoxicated woman weaving on the road on a golf cart. Turns out that "intoxicated woman" was actually Hamilton, who had decided to go to a CVS pharmacy store to purchase some Halloween decorations for her grandchildren.

Police caught up with her as she exited the drug store. She was holding a bottle of whiskey and a scarecrow.

Let's let that marinate for a moment. OK, everyone with us? Moving on.

Why was Hamilton driving a golf cart in the first place? Are golf carts even legally allowed on Indiana roads?

Apparently they can be. Under Indiana law, a "golf cart" is a motor vehicle because it is self-propelled. Golf carts are legal to drive on Indiana's roadways so long as they are properly plated and documented.

So police might have been able to slap Hamilton with a DUI charge as well. Under Indiana law, it's illegal to operate a "vehicle" while intoxicated. If a golf cart is considered "vehicle," then DUI laws also apply to operators of golf carts.

Be certain, this is not the first time someone has been busted for driving under the influence behind the wheels of a golf cart.

Luckily for Hamilton, she was only charged with public intoxication for her little golf cart escapade.

What was she going to do with whiskey and the scarecrow? The scarecrow was just going to be a Halloween decoration for her kids. As for the whiskey: she planned to return home and drink the bottle next to the fire. Sounds like a very relaxing night.
