Hulk Hogan, Bubba the Love Sponge Settle Sex-Tape Lawsuit
Hulk Hogan has settled his lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.
Hogan had sued Bubba, a radio personality, over a leaked sex tape of the former pro wrestler having sex with the Love Sponge's ex-wife Heather Clem.
The terms of the settlement are confidential, but following the settlement, the Love Sponge issued a public apology on his radio show. In his apology, the Love Sponge said that Hogan was unaware that he was being recorded and had no role in the video's public release, reports The Tampa Tribune.
Earlier this month, the gossip website Gawker released a segment of Hulk Hogan's sex tape. Following the release of the 2006 video, speculation immediately begun as to who released the video and why.
Eventually, Hogan accused Bubba the Love Sponge of leaking the video. Hogan (whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea) and Bubba (whose real name is Todd Alan Clem) had reportedly been best friends.
In his lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge, Hogan claimed that he had no knowledge that he was being recorded and said that the video diminished his value, reports the Tribune.
Previous to the settlement, Bubba went on the offensive against Hogan and suggested that Hogan may have known that he was being taped and played a role in releasing the sex tape -- perhaps in an effort the keep the 59-year-old former wrestler relevant.
But in his apology, the Love Sponge said that he was now convinced that Hogan was unaware of the recording device and that he is committed to helping find who was responsible for releasing the video, reports the Tribune.
While Hogan has settled his lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge for a public apology (and maybe more), the ex-wrestler still has a $100 million lawsuit pending against Gawker for posting the sex tape and refusing to remove it. Last week, a Florida judge denied Hogan's request for a temporary restraining order that would have forced removal of the video from the site.
Hogan also has an outstanding lawsuit against Heather Clem for invasion of privacy.
