Gore Sexual Misconduct Investigation Reopened
The heat is on for former Vice President Al Gore as the Portland police are re-opening an investigation into allegations by his massage therapist, Molly Hagerty, that he groped her.
Although the Portland Police Bureau did not say why they have decided to reopen the Al Gore investigation, it is department policy not to comment on specifics of the case, the Washington Post reports.
Gore has denied making unwanted sexual advances and according to the former vice president's spokesperson he welcomes the investigation.
As previously discussed, Gore's massage therapist contacted police in late 2006, after her alleged "unwanted sexual contact" with the former vice president who was in Portland, OR to deliver a speech on climate change.
The Oregon woman claims she was sexually attacked by Gore at a hotel where he tried to have sex with her during a massage appointment.
Although she contacted police in 2006, Molly Hagerty refused to be interviewed by detectives and did not want the investigation to proceed.
In 2009, she contacted police again and gave a statement about the alleged sexual misconduct.
After detectives interviewed the woman, they determined there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations of sexual misconduct.
That was until the recent decision by the Portland police to re-open the case.
According to transcripts of the 2009 interview, the masseuse described the allegations at length. She said Gore groped, kissed and pinned her down on a bed. She told Gore he was acting like a "crazed sex poodle," according to the transcript.
The woman said she feared that any complaint from him to the hotel would destroy her work reputation.
In her interview, Hagerty mentioned that she has done business for the lead singer of the Counting Crows, members of former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan's family and NBA players.
Gore has unequivocally and emphatically denied accusations since learning of them three years ago.
Recently, Gore and wife Tipper announced that they are separating on June 1 in an e-mail to friends.
