'Gone Baby Gone' Actress Jill Quigg Arrested for Burglary
Actress Jill Quigg was made famous for her role in the film "Gone Baby Gone". The Boston native, who grew up in a housing project near the site of the movie's filming, was a success story among her neighbors. Now it looks like Quigg really is gone baby gone ... to jail that is. 35 year-old Jill Quigg was arrested in Boston and charged with stealing a television and computer printer from a her neighbor's apartment.
The Boston Herald reports that Quigg and her accomplice were stopped by police fifty yards from the crime scene and began telling the police a very questionable story which included chasing down the supposed burglars and storing the goods in Quigg's apartment for safe keeping. The pair also claimed to have heard the break-in was drug-related. Unfortunately, their story has a lot of holes in it and the victim of the break-in was able to easily identify the suspects.
Both Quigg and her accomplice were charged with larceny, breaking and entering, and malicious destruction of property (stemming from the damage done to the apartment door). Jill Quigg has spoken publically about her substance abuse issues, and the judge in this case has ordered her to attend a drug treatment program.
The purpose of Quigg's punishment goes beyond traditional fines and jail time and into the realm of rehabilitation. The judge in the case recognizes the need to treat substance abuse problems both on a personal level for Quigg, and also help limit her criminal behavior that may be further perpetuated by drugs. Reducing the recidivism rates by mandating some type of rehabilitation program is an increasingly popular approach to instances such as this. For Jill Quigg, hopefully this harsh dose of reality and rehab will be her last.
