Golden Voice Ted Williams Detained by LA Cops

The man with the golden voice, Ted Williams, was a wonder story of overcoming obstacles and finding hidden talent. But that was four days ago. Has the world already moved on from the former Ohio homeless man turned YouTube phenomena? Is it over for the man with the golden voice, Ted Williams?

Williams, 53, is a former panhandler and recovering alcoholic and drug addict, who quickly shot to fame due to his voice, was detained by the Los Angeles Police Department after a disturbance call. The police were called to the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, after Williams and his daughter got into what the LA Times called an "altercation." Both Willaims and his daughter were taken to the station by police. Both were released and neither was charged with a crime.

An arrest occurs when police take you into custody and is complete the moment you, as the suspect, are no longer free to walk away from the arresting officer. Just because a person is arrested does not necessarily mean that they will be charged with a crime.

While the altercation and detention itself may not mean the end for the golden-voiced Williams, it won't do him any favors. With the exception of mega-stars, studios and producers prefer to avoid talent that is perceived as risky. Prior to the incident, Williams was booked to shoot several television appearances, including "Entertainment Tonight." The Columbus Dispatch originally discovered Williams and aired a video of him on a street corner. The man with the golden voice has since received a number of job offers including an MSNBC promo and a contract with Kraft.

For the man with the golden voice, Ted Williams appears as though he will continue on his newfound path, at least for now. After all, most everyone deserves a second chance.
