G-Eazy Arrested in Sweden for Cocaine Possession, Assault

American rapper and producer G-Eazy (nee Gerald Earl Gillum) was arrested this week in Stockholm, Sweden on drug possession and assault charges after a scuffle in a nightclub. According to TMZ, the artist was partying at Solidaritet after a show, then became belligerent when a fan attempted to photograph him in the VIP area of the club.

Details are few, but it appears G-Eazy won't be facing any jail time following his arrest.

When It's Dark Out

The Blast is reporting that a security guard at the club noticed 4-5 people involved in a scuffle in the VIP room. When he attempted to intervene, G-Eazy allegedly struck the guard in the head 3-4 times, causing "swelling and pain," according to the guard's statement in a police report. The security guard was able to wrestle the rapper to the ground and subdue him.

The report also states G-Eazy was showing visible signs of drug use, including "tense, convulsive jaw muscles" and an "insane, crazy and rabid" demeanor. Security searched him and found two bags containing approximately 1.5 grams of cocaine and a rolled up $100 bill in his pocket with apparent cocaine residue on it, and policed noticed "white powder on the nose."

G-Eazy was originally charged with violence against an official, resisting with violence, and drug possession. The artist allegedly admitted to striking the security guard and trying to escape once he was detained, telling cops, "I remember fighting with someone. I remember someone holding me down. I remember that when I tried to break free from the hold."

G-Eazy also confessed to purchasing and possessing the cocaine and using it earlier in the night -- "I had drugs in my pocket and I had taken drugs earlier that night" -- but refused to identify from whom he bought the drugs.

These Things Happen

G-Eazy's Swedish lawyer, Mikael Westerlund, says that although the rapper was "convicted" of assault and drug possession, he'll face no jail time in Sweden. Instead, he received two years of probation, was fined $9,000, must pay $740 in restitution to the security guard, and may need to participate in community service.
