From Harvard Law to WWE Wrestler: David Otunga Uses JD in the Ring

David Otunga has had an uh, interesting career since leaving Sidley Austin in 2007.

He first took a turn as "Punk," a man trying to woo the star of VH1's I Love New York. He then joined the WWE, where he ditched the lame nickname for something even worse.

But when his "A-List" personality couldn't quite cut it, he fell back on his J.D. He was drafted as legal counsel to RAW general manager, John Laurinaitis.

He's now a lawyer, playing a wrestler, playing a lawyer on TV.

Otunga, who has apparently won two WWE Tag Team Championships, took on his latest role sometime last year. Decked out in bowties and sweater vests, he advises disgruntled wrestlers and sips copious amounts of coffee.

In fact, here's a clip of him calling himself "Harvard Law School's most talented graduate":

Oh, and here's one of him citing the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the NLRB:

He's a pretty bad actor -- even if his legal advice is sound.

The truth is, David Otunga wouldn't ordinarily make this page. But his name recently came up when he decided to make his first court appearance in years. In what may or may not have been a publicity move, he took on a pro bono unemployment benefits case.

Upon winning, he told TMZ he "smoked the witness during cross examination."

Perhaps he was smoking something, too.

If you're wondering what's next for David Otunga, we have no idea. A few years ago, we would have said "porn," but the guy has since settled down. He's engaged to singer/actress/Weight Watchers spokeswoman Jennifer Hudson.
