Former Subway Ad Man Jared Fogle Pleads Guilty to Child Porn and Sex Charges
Jared Fogle, most famous for pitching the health value of Subway sandwiches, has reportedly reached a plea agreement involving numerous charges of sex with minors and possession of child pornography. Fogle allegedly paid for sex with a 17-year-old, elicited younger sex partners ("the younger the girl, the better"), and had pornographic images of children as young as 6.
Both prosecutors and Fogle's defense attorney announced the plea agreement, which means Fogle will avoid a criminal trial, but the deal still has to be approved by the judge.
Jared's Admissions
Things began to unravel for Fogle when Russell Taylor, the executive director of Fogle's Jared Foundation, was arrested on federal charges of production and possession of child pornography in April. After that, rumors of Fogle's possession of massive amounts of pornography and predilection for middle school girls came to light.
The admissions made in his plea arrangement with federal authorities are even more grotesque:
- Fogle had sex with at least two minors.
- He possessed films of 12 other minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, given to him by Taylor.
- He possessed other pornographic images of children as young as 6 years old.
- He solicited escorts for contacts to minors as young as 14 or 15.
- He told one 17-year-old after sex that he would "accept a 16 year old," but, "the younger the girl, the better."
- He knew some of the kids in Taylor's pornographic images by name and had met some of them during social events in Indiana.
Jared's Punishment
As part of his plea arrangement, Fogle is subject to anywhere from 5 to 12.5 years in prison. Following his release, he will be forbidden from having any unsupervised contact with children unless it is approved by his probation officer. Fogle also won't be able to visit his own children without notifying their custodian and getting the custodian's consent. Fogle's wife, Katie, is filing for divorce.
Subway released a statement via Twitter:
We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment.
