Fla. Man Steals Prostitute's Baby; Cites Bad Sex?

Apparently, when the sex is bad, you get even. At least when you paid for it.

A drug-fueled party in Volusia County, Fla. reportedly ended in a kidnapping this past weekend when Carlos Rivera took his anger out on 1-year-old Lupita Gonzales. Rivera had allegedly paid Lupita's mother, Leah Wiley, for sex early Friday morning.

At some point during the encounter, Wiley was called to another room, leaving Rivera unsatisfied. So he grabbed the prostitute's baby and walked out of the house.

About 2 miles down the road, Carlos Rivera realized he might be in a bit of trouble, reports the Orlando Sentinel. So he placed Wiley's baby in a field, and waited nearly 24 hours to report her missing.

Wiley did not report her daughter missing, according to the News-Journal. She was afraid the child's father would be mad about her bedroom antics.

With help from Rivera, police found Lupita Gonzales on Saturday afternoon, and have since placed her and her siblings into state custody.

Leah Wiley has been charged with child endangerment, likely because the tot was brought to the drug-filled party. Though Florida legislators proposed a "Caylee's law," the failure to report a missing child is not yet an official criminal act.

For his part in the fiasco, Carlos Rivera has been charged with child abuse and kidnapping, notes the Sentinel. It's unlikely that his decision to report the incident and lead police to the girl's location will have much of an effect on his sentencing.

Even before he chose to take a prostitute's baby, he was in a bit of legal trouble. He failed to appear on charges of grand theft auto and driving under the influence. And he may or may not be an undocumented immigrant.
