FindLaw's 'Legal Emmys' 2014: Vote for Your Favorite Legal TV Show!

The Primetime Emmy Awards are set for Monday (bonus points if you watched the Creative Arts Emmys), and FindLaw has picked our favorite legal TV shows that have been nominated.

Some of the nominees really put a fine point on what it must be like to be a sexy, confident, and independent attorney (no, Lifetime didn't green-light my made-for-TV movie), while others expose the gaping holes in the legal system between politicians, law enforcement, and inmates.

So check out our Top 5 "Legal Emmy" nominees for 2014 -- and then vote for your favorite, below:

1. 'The Good Wife.'

CBS' "The Good Wife" was nominated for five Emmys this year, including Julianna Margulies for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. We've covered "The Good Wife" for nearly two years now (check out our review of Season 5's finale), and despite our initial hesitation over its soapy appeal, the show really does excel at bringing current legal issues to the foreground.

2. 'True Detective.'

Nominated for 13 Emmys in its first season, HBO's "True Detective" could not be left out of our "Legal Emmys." Both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (alright alright alright), and the show itself is up for Outstanding Drama Series. Better yet, the show may have been inspired by a real case. It also taught us that time is a flat circle, and that you really can't have just anyone investigate a crime.

3. 'Orange Is the New Black.'

We already binged on the second season of Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black," and you should do the same. The show is nominated for 12 Emmys, and Uzo Aduba won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of "Crazy Eyes"/Suzanne. The series has reminded us of the terrible condition of many jails and prisons and that sex with inmates is rape.

4. 'House of Cards.'

Netflix has another Emmy powerhouse in "House of Cards," which nabbed 13 Emmy nominations this year. Kevin Spacey is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Francis Underwood, who could teach lawyers a thing or two.

5. 'Scandal.'

Shonda Rhimes' and ABC's "Scandal" snagged only three nominations this year, but we love it anyway. Kerry Washington was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for playing "fixer"/attorney Olivia Pope, but not for that terrible face/noise that Washington makes when Olivia cries. Former "Scandal" actor Columbus Short may be the saddest one of all, after having several run-ins with the law this year.
