Fake Doctor Gives Breast Exams in Bars
Would you accept a breast exam in a bar from a woman named Dr. Berlyn Aussieahshowna? Don't answer that.
(The New York Daily News already took my line about Dr. Feelgood, so that's the best I've got.)
Kristina Ross, 37, is in custody on $100,000 bond in Boise, Idaho on two felony counts of practicing medicine without a license. The maximum penalty for each count is five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. According to prosecutors, Ross posed as a doctor and tricked multiple women into having their breasts examined by her at Boise nightclubs.
Ross would introduce herself to victims as a plastic surgeon by displaying what victims believed was an impressive medical vocabulary. The victims would then agree to undergo breast exams at the bar. Ross would then discuss breast augmentation and liposuction procedures.
The next step Ross took turned out to be her undoing. After the exams, she would give the women the telephone number of an actual plastic surgeon. Ross must have given very convincing consultations -- staff at that office started receiving a high number of calls for women seeking to confirm appointments or surgeries with Dr. Berlyn Aussieahshowna. Employees then alerted the police.
Apparently there is some question as to the gender of Ross. Court records show Ross was arrested for theft earlier this year and the warrant was issued to Kristoffer Jon Ross. The Idaho Statesman reported that Ross has a past criminal record as a man but was booked into jail as a female.
Ross has been appointed a public defender and will face a preliminary hearing on the charges December 1.
