'Evil Twin' May Get Parole, Release From Prison
On the long list of worst news a person could receive, "Your evil twin sister that plotted your kidnapping and murder is getting out of jail" has to be right near the top. And that's the news Sunny Han might be getting if California Governor Jerry Brown approves the state Board of Parole's recommendation that Jeen "Gina" Han be released from prison.
Jeen was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, burglary, and false imprisonment in 1998 and has spent almost two decades in the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla. And prosecutors aren't as convinced of her rehabilitation as is the parole board.
Not-So-Sunny Disposition
According to the Orange County Register, Sunny and Jeen had a history of fighting that culminated in Sunny accusing Jeen of stealing her BMW. Jeen allegedly recruited two teen boys to help her kidnap her twin sister and even bought Pine Sol and garbage bags the day before the incident:
As Gina Han waited in a car outside, the two teenagers, posing as magazine salesmen, forced their way into Sunny Han's apartment and tied up her roommate with twine. Sunny Han heard the commotion and was able to quickly call 911 from the bathroom before the teens restrained her. Officers arrived within minutes.
Jeen was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison in May 1998, and will only be released following approval from the governor.
"Flexing the Manipulation Muscles"
And Orange County prosecutors are hoping that doesn't happen."This manipulative ability is not surprising, given her extreme intelligence coupled with an untreated personality disorder," Deputy District Attorney Nikki Chambers wrote in a letter to Governor Brown. "The fact remains that she is still flexing the manipulation muscles that she used when she recruited two young men to murder her sister, and they appear to be as keen as they were in 1996."
Prosecutors also handed over Jeen's correspondence to the parole board, including letters from a number of men, offering her money, jobs, and a place to live. One pen pal from England allegedly gave her $100,000 after corresponding for a year. According to a forensic psychologist Jeen Han has "never participated in mental-health treatment" for her "borderline personality disorder." Not great news for Sunny Han.
