Elon Musk and Talulah Riley Divorce Again

By Ephrat Livni, Esq. on April 01, 2016 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Actress Talulah Riley and Elon Musk thought they were meant to be together forever a couple of times, but they are finding it's not working out. The couple got married in 2010 -- Musk already had five kids from a previous marriage -- then got divorced in 2012 and then got married again the following year. The last marriage happened in 2013 and now Riley is seeking another divorce reportedly.

If you are worried, they are committed to remaining friends, which appears to be the extent of the commitment they wish to have to each other for now. But who knows? If things go the way they did last time, we may find ourselves reading about yet another Musk and Riley marriage, not too long after the divorce filing is approved.

Much News of Musk

Riley is a British actress, reportedly known for her work in Inception, Thor, The Dark World, and Pride and Prejudice. This week she submitted papers to the Los Angeles Superior Court seeking a divorce from her husband Elon Musk. Meanwhile, Musk is making headlines with more than just the dissolution of his marriage.

Musk was one of the founders of PayPal and is now better known for his car company Tesla, a luxury automobile maker for the socially conscious, focused on electric cars. This week Tesla introduced the Model 3, which is meant to be a an affordable electric car for the masses. Ignoring the fact that the Model 3 is still not quite for the masses, its introduction has been a smashing success and pre-orders have been hot -- 180,000 Model 3 cars were pre-ordered and now the pressure is on Musk to live up to the promise by producing the vehicles.

Promises, Promises

If Musk's marriage to Riley is any indication, he starts out strong but is not really in it for the long haul. He filed for divorce on New Year's Eve in 2014 and then rescinded the request seven months later. Now Riley seems to be finalizing it. The couple was already separated unofficially and has reportedly lived apart for some time.

As for marital assets and the millions (or billions) she may miss out on by splitting from Musk, it's probably already covered. The couple signed a prenuptial agreement previously, and Musk paid Riley $16 million in cash and assets according to the terms of that deal. Stay tuned for details of the latest deal, which have not yet been released.
