Eddie Griffin May Get Sued by Lesbian Couple Over Club Fight

You have to expect a certain amount of abuse when you attend a live comedy show. Especially if you sit front row at an Eddie Griffin show.

However, the abuse may have crossed the line last week during a club fight in Pleasanton, California. Griffin allegedly baited a lesbian woman and her partner, threw drinks at her and sent the woman fleeing.

The woman, Fiona Walshe, has already contacted a lawyer. Right now, they are asking for an apology and compensation from the comedian and the club. They still haven't formally filed a lawsuit, reports the Huffington Post.

At the start of the comedy set, Walshe says that Griffin admitted to being drunk and even drank a bottle of champagne and took a shot while on stage. As the set went on, Walshe says that Griffin began singling her out and taunting her for looking like a "librarian." This is all standard course in a comedy show.

However, Walshe says that things turned ugly when Griffin noticed that she was there with another woman. She says that Griffin then called her out for being a lesbian and "violently" pumped his hips at her as he volunteered to turn her straight, reports the Huffington Post. Feeling threatened, Walshe threw a drink at Griffin.

Griffin then took things up a notch and allegedly jumped on Walshe's table and hurled other patrons' drinks at Walshe and her partner as they tried to flee. Walshe says angry crowd members then also started throwing drinks at them as club security offered no help, reports the Huffington Post. As a result of the incident, Walshe says that she suffers from extreme feelings of anxiety and lack of sleep.

As Walshe has laid all the groundwork for a lawsuit, Eddie Griffin still remains defiant. So far, he has only said that the club "fight" was standard course for a comedy show, adding that if you sit in the front row, you will likely become part of the act.
